Crazy Saturday
Well we had an upset when Kentucky traveled to Tennessee. They have been exposed and the recipe to beat them has been put out there for everyone to see. Play a tough zone and make them shoot threes. they went 2-27 from behind the arc. They have the most talent in college basketball but I think they believe everyone should bow down to them. Also as I am writing this Kansas is getting beat by 16 to Oklahoma State on the road. It does show how hard it is to go on the road and play. Plus tonight its Syracuse vs Villanova at The Carrier Dome. I dont even think the game will be close. I am predicting the Cuse by 15. As of right now I am on the Duke bandwagon as the team playing the best basketball. Also I cant wait till next Friday because its going to be Akron vs Kent State for the MAC championship in Akron. Its going to be crazy. GO ZIPS GO. Lets have some fun this week.

Major Shake Up in Basketball
SO I get home from the Akron Zips game last night by the way a dismantling of the Bulls from Buffalo. And I grab a Busch Light and turn on College Basketball to watch Purdue and Minnesota. Its the start of the 2nd half and there is no Robbie Hummel. He is in street clothes and on crutches. Major blow to a possible title contender. They survived last night but if he cant make it back. They may not get out of the first round especially the 2nd with alot of the teams so evenly matched. By the way I still love Baylor. So athletic and good and I am thinking Elite 8 for them as well. MURRAY STATE RACERS they are the best. Longest win streak in the country and leading the Ohio Valley Conference.
Last few things is the South Koreans got screwed in the speed skating relay and the Americans got a gift of a Bronze. They said the chick pushed off the Chinese skater and her team got DQd. The Americans were not even in contention and a half lap behind the pack. I feel terrible for them. Also the freestyle arials are amazing. How the heck can they do all those twists and turns and land. Also Bobsledding is so fun to watch. Canada won but the Americans got another bronze. And what a scary wreck that the Germans had. girl flying out the back of the sled and the pilot having her head dragged along a wall. Amazing they were both okay. Till tomorrow or later today have a great day.

Top 16 Teams
Here are my teams that I feel are the best Chances to win the tourney.
1-4: Kansas, Kentucky, Duke, Syracuse.
5-8: Kansas State, Purdue, Villanova, Ohio State
9-12: Goergetown, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, West Virginia
13-16: Butler, Texas, Baylor, Maryland
The only major surprise in the top 4 was Duke. They are playing the best ball in the country and if they continue it they will win the tournament. They are that good. I really hope I am not falling to the hype of K. State this year. I really like them and their attitude. Tough and fearless. Although I think they could curl up in a ball in the tourney at any time. I am still keeping them there. Ohio State gave me a scare with the loss against Purdue AT HOME. But came back and beat MSU. Out of the 9-16 teams I think there is only 1 that has a chance to do damage meaning the final four and that would be Maryland. I love Greivas Vazquez. He is such a punk as a player but dang good and can carry them. Then again this all falls down to where they will be playing and who.
Also side bar note what is up with the Cavs since that trade. I still think they will come out of it okay and win a title but its going to rest on Mike Brown the coach.

Ice Skaters Dream
So I know I make fun of Canada all the time and I want them to lose. But for one night I want the ice skater Joannie Rochette skating for Canada to win and dominate. It was her and her mothers dream to be in the Olympics and then when the 24 year old got to the Olympics her mother passed away of a heart attack. She is still going to skate which is amazing show of her love for her mother and I cant wait to watch it. Even thinking about it gets me kind of choked up and teary eyed. Everyone should say a quick prayer for her and wish her the best of luck. Not only is she going to be skating for the thousands in attendance but she will have hundreds of millions of fans rooting her on. Good luck Joannie and we are all praying for you and your family.

Canada Chokes
Not only did the Olympic committee choke with the Scotty Lago fiasco but how about that almighty and powerful Canadian Hockey team. They took that little red leaf and swallowed and couldnt digest it. Losing to USA in their best sport and the one thing that whole country couldnt wait for during this Olympics. It actually really makes me laugh. All the canucks up their know about is Hockey. I liked watching that game and their deflated faces after realizing they lost. BUMS.
Congratulations to Bode Miller and his gold medal.

Olympic Commitee Chokes Again
I enjoy watching the Olympics I find them to be entertaining, exciting and truelly emotional with all the side stories. But the one thing I disagree with is the IOC. What a bunch of old, wrinkly and pathetic losers. They want every person competing to act like an angel and obey their rules. The point of this is that snowboarding and snowboarders come from a different breed. They are out there and crazy and like to have a lot of fun. So Scotty Lago the American Bronze medalist in the half-pipe did something he regrets. Someone got a picture of a girl kissing his bronze medal just below the waist. Seriously his pants were on and the medal was around his waist. He came out and apologized right away once he realized there were pictures. Dont force the kid out becuase of this. Its not like he was doing anything illegal. The Olympics pimp these athletes out for being wild and crazy and then when they are they boot them out of the olympics. Also there is a period called the blackout period which Scotty is not allowed to comment on the incident. That is just ludicrous. I think he should be protesting the Olympics and say whatever he wants about those old farts. Have a great day and I'll be back.

Random Sports Thoughts
well the NBA trading deadline is almost done and the Cavs and Rockets are the winners. More so the Rockets. They obtained an excellent scorer and all around player in Kevin Martin. I think that puts them right there as a contender. They are scrappy bunch that will play hard and fight till the end. The Cavs on the other hand just strengthened their team but they also weakeded it by losing Z. They signed the outside shooter and stretch 4 in Antwan Jamison and found the Robin to Batman.
Big day yesterday with my surprise team in the tournament with Ohio State losing to Purdue at home with their first sellout crowd. That game just showed my biggest fear is that they have no depth. It was Evan Turner vs Purdue. John Diebler and William Buford barely showed up. Duke is starting to really turn my head like I mentioned last week. Zoubek is playing like a beast in the middle and Kyle Singlers shot has reappeared. They have definitly leap frogged OSU in my mind.
Lyndsay Vonn is still hot and what Shaun White can do is amazing on a snowboard. Also this weekend if you need to watch the cinderella teams it is Bracketbuster Weekend. The HUGE GAME IS SIENA AT BUTLER on ESPN at 11:00 EST. Have great rest of the day. Thank you for reading.

NBA TRADE DEADLINE
Well that Caron Butler and Brendan Haywood to the Mavericks was a pretty slick deal. I would have loved to have Caron in Cleveland. He is a stud. Dallas got rid of a player who doesnt always play hard and likes the hippy lettuce. Dallas gets a big man in Heyward and Caron can do everything. Very underappreciated in the NBA. I latest rumor I heard was that the Celtics are looking at getting Nate Robinson. He would be a bum as well just like Marbury on that team last year. He is a bench player and all about himself. Anyways the Celtics are done anyways. The trade deadline is revolving around Amare as I am sure you all know. Also as a Cavs fan I may be one of like 10 people that don't want that trade to happen. I think it would screw the chenistry of the Cavs along with he and JJ Hickson are nearly the same player. I think they can win the championship without Amare. Then go after Chris Bosh in the summer. fTracy Mcgrady had the chance to be a great player now he is just a shell of himself possibly going to the pits of NY to play hoops. What a disaster of a franchise. I really like the Marcus Camby deal to Portand. He can block shots and get boards. They just have to watch that attitude of his and hope it doesnt ruin their young guns.
I have to congratulate Sadie the Scottish Terrier on the win at the Westminister Dog Show. And screw the PETA people that interupted the 4 legged friends moment.
Thanks again for reading.

MY SUPER SIXTEEN TEAMS as of now
Well Selection Sunday is about a month away and its time to seriously talk about teams that are contenders, bubble teams and cinderella teams. I like to look at teams broken up into groups of 4. 1-4, 5-8, 9-12 and 13-16. Then I will talk about teams that I feel could pull an upset or two. Again its early and maybe a couple of these bubble teams might not get in the tournament.
MY TOP 4: Kansas, Kentucky, Syracuse, Purdue
Nothing to crazy in this area. The fourth team was the hardest. I dont
believe there is much difference in these four teams than the next four
that I will mention. Kansas is senior laden, Kentucky the most talent, Syracuse plays a tough zone and Purdue with their amazing team chemistry.
Next 4: Duke, Villanova, Michigan State, Ohio State
Duke's major flaw is the interior presence of a big man but they are getting
that with the Plumlee brothers and Zoubek. Villanova has Scottie Reynolds and
OSU has Evan Turner (my vote for player of year). Michigan State is always
nasty in the tournament especially since they are getting kailin Lucas healthy
again. I think these top 8 have a cerifiable chance to win the tournament.
The Almost 4: Georgetown, West Virginia, Pittsburgh and Kansas State
5 of my top 12 teams are Big East teams and here are the last 3. Georgetown and Pittsburgh are both very tough, strong and physical teams that could give any team fits. West Virginia has Deshawn Butler he can flat out dominate at times and if Bobby Huggins can get them to play hard the whole game they would not have lost the last two games. And Kansas State has made me a believer with gym rat Denis Clementi and the rest of hustling Wildcats. They are very scrappy.
Last 4: Gonzaga, Texas, Tennessee, Wisconsin
The Zags are the Zags. They can make a run any year or they could lose in the 2nd round. Texas is the team that has had a frustrating month after winning their first 17 games. They just destroyed Nebraska and are the one team that can move up in the rankings. Bruce Pearl has this team playing good ball and the farthest I can see them going is the Sweet 16. No depth but they do have the talent hence the upset of then #1 Kansas. Wisconsin has their coach Bo Ryan and are never out of a game because of their style of play. Take the air of the ball and slow it down with an in your face defense.
Sleeper teams that could make a run. Baylor, Georgia Tech, Siena, Xavier and Murray State.
Baylor is very long and athletic. If they get the right matchups they can make a deep run. Georgia Tech is big tough team with Derek Favors. They are going through a rough patch right now but if they turn it around watch out they are explosive. Siena has history in the tourney along with an upset in the past. They just lost their first game so these next couple of games are important. I just watched X for the first time this past weekend and they just punched Florida in the mouth in the O-Dome in Fl and killed them. Murray state will give whoever they play trouble b/c they are winners. 15-0 in the Ohio Valley Conference and 24-3 over the years. Plus they are called THE RACERS.
Till Next Time have a great day.

Weird Weekend
So this weekend was a bit awkward. All the good basketball games came on Friday which I previously had mentioned and Sunday which saw two major upsets happen. Rutgers beat down Georgetown and Louisville taking down Syracuse. There are zero thoughts to be made out of college basketball. Any team can beat anybody this year. My thoughts is that their are around 10-15 teams that could make the final four. It is going all come down to the draw this year. Also this one and done feature for these athletes is a joke. If they can go pro let them go pro. But if you commit to college it should be for 3 years. College basketball would be so much better for it but so would the NBA.
Enough about College basketball for the day I will get into it tomorrow with my rankings of teams and where they stand. The Daytona 500. Still the greatest race but come on it ended at like 730. I know about the pothole debate that happened but shouldnt there be some sort of tool that would not postpone the race for so long. I feel bad for the fans that had to sit through that. Also I love the fact you can bump-draft again. Thank goodness. The cars are so safe now that when Dale Earnhart got flipped in the Nationwide race his only concern was how awesome the wreck looked. They need to repave Daytona this year.
The Olympics are awesome. Unfortunately Canada won their first olympic gold medal when hosting the games. The opening ceremonies were pretty exciting except for the default in the pole coming out of the ground during the lighting ceremony. I am changing my mind after watching the Biathalon. That is the best event with ski jumping then cross country and shooting rifles. Talk about skill and endurance.
Have a great day everyone and thanks for reading.

Sports Saturday + Friday Night
So this weekend was a dud in regards to the majority of the college basketball games. There was one truelly great game and that was the Friday night Triple OT game between West Virginia and Pitt. West Virginia the #4 team in the country at the time seemingly quit up seven with about a minute to go and Pitt sent it into overtime then another and then another. I wanted to sleep Friday night but was up till past midnight watching the backyard brawl. The opening ceremonies of the olympics were that night and as usual Canada failed. Way to have a major malfunction with one of those interior torches with hundreds of millions of people watching. Also prayers go out to the luger that lost his life Friday afternoon.
So Saturday arrives and I have all my chores the wife told me to do done and I start to watch some basketball. Every game was a blowout and not really worth watching. There were some things I did learn is that Duke is very tough at home and if Brian Zoubek puts up half of the performance he did that game they could be a title contenter. It was something like 16 points and 19 boards. Also Nova didnt impress much with there 1 point win over Providence AT HOME. They did not play great defense and won 82-81. Also Kansas played a soso game till one big run towards the end of the game to win by 14 against Iowa State. The big hyped game was the Kentucky game with Gameday there and a packed house just for that 1 hour. Tennessee has shown how to beat Kentucky and thats to play the 3-2 zone and make them beat you outside. Also frustrate Demarcus Cousins. John Wall put together a pretty good game with 22 points but still had 4 turnovers. Also to beat them take the air out of the ball on offense and limit possessions.
Then there is NBA all star weekend. What a joke. Nate Robinson won the slam dunk contest for the 3rd time and he only has 3 in game dunks. I would just as well get rid of that dumb contest unless the best dunkers are going to be in it like they said they would. LEBRON. Big deal as well with Caron Butler going from the Wizards to the Mavericks. Also the big deal the Cavs are working on acquiring Amare Stoudamire from Phoenix. My personal opinion is they could be breaking up a good thing. They have the best record in the NBA and have great chemistry. Plus they are getting Leon Powe back from injury. The Shaq and Amare thing was tried in Phoenix and didnt work out well.
Danica wrecked at the nationwide race. I know it wasn't her fault but still she had not even mastered the open wheel racing and she takes on this. I think she should have at least won a few more races on that circuit before coming to NASCAR.
As for Sunday things to watch I would recommend the Ohio State vs Illinois basketball game. Also you cant forget about the Olympics and The Daytona 500.
Enjoy your Sunday.

My thoughts on College basketball is that there are no clear cut #1 teams in the country. The closest think to a number one team would have to be Kansas. With Kentucky, Syracuse and possibly Villanova. Kentucky is probably the most talented team in the country but they are very young. John Wall looks like he has hit that Freshman wall and is tired. Also Demarcus Cousins is a very talented player but can get lazy and has the potential to get thrown out of any game with his temper. Patrick Patterson is the key to this team. He needs to show leadership and demand the ball. Syracuse has an abundance of over-achieving players with one excellent JUCO player in Wesley Johnson. But if they run into a hot shooting team that can beat their zone then they are in trouble. It only takes 1 team. Villanova all you really have to say is Scottie Reynolds. He is amazing and could carry this team to the title. Kansas on the other hand has the Big farm boy with a missing tooth in Cole Aldrich. Also a senior point guard in Sherron Collins (spelling). He can certainly hit that big shot. My surprise team of the tournament is going to be Ohio State. They are growing as a team and with Evan Turner leading the way anything is possible. He is the player of the year no doubt. He is amazing. Plus William Buford, David Lighty and Dallas Louderdale. They have all the pieces to make a run. The issue is their depth. Their starters score 80% of their points and I feel they could tire out with all the games in a row. Whats scary is that all these title contenders could lose in the 2nd or 3rd round. This is going to be like 2006 when George Mason made the run. There is no clear cut favorite and I cant wait to drink beers and watch all the games.
My Thoughts on Current Sports
So tonight is the start of the 2010 Winter Olympics. I think they bring out the pride in the country that you live in. My favorite olympic sport is luging. Those guys have to be crazy going down those hills at those speeds. I dont think you could ever get me in a Luge sled. Speed Skating is also one of my favorite sports to watch. I think I really enjoy it because of the one on one competition and the stories that go along with it. What about Lyndsay Vonn she has the potential to be an olympic great possibly winning 5 medals. As long as this shin injury does not keep her out. Lets hope not because she is HOT. Lets pray for a showdown of of Canada vs USA in Hockey as well.
