My Thoughts on Current Sports
So tonight is the start of the 2010 Winter Olympics. I think they bring out the pride in the country that you live in. My favorite olympic sport is luging. Those guys have to be crazy going down those hills at those speeds. I dont think you could ever get me in a Luge sled. Speed Skating is also one of my favorite sports to watch. I think I really enjoy it because of the one on one competition and the stories that go along with it. What about Lyndsay Vonn she has the potential to be an olympic great possibly winning 5 medals. As long as this shin injury does not keep her out. Lets hope not because she is HOT. Lets pray for a showdown of of Canada vs USA in Hockey as well.

Agreed. I, unlike you, am not the world's biggest sports enthusiast. However, you poignantly asserted that pride and patriotism undergird the enthusiasm many share for Olympic competition. I hadn't thought of it that way before. Cheering on our nation's best athletes is a great diversion from team-centric competition and it's fun to watch Team USA dominate (truly the American way, hah!). I wish we could fly up to Vancouver to be a part of it.
